Fabulous Find Friday~ Week 5

Hi everyone,
I’m heading out to the Georgia Aquarium today with my daughter and our friend from France.  She leaves tomorrow to go home after being here since July 1st.  We’ve had a wonderful time while she was here.  Sarah, my darling daughter, gets to go to France next year to stay with her family for a month.  This has been a wonderful experience 😉

Do you have a fabulous find to share?

Grab the picture above and link up your finds….

Here’s my fabulous find.

Now, let me tell you why I chose to buy these suckers.

I know you have all been inspired (Pinspired) by all of these beautiful crates that everyone is making.-Just like Ginger‘s below:

But here was my theory:

But the time I buy the crate, the wood, the foam, the fabric and the blood, sweat and tears…I’ve spent the $20 that the one above cost me.  Right?  I’m sad that mine aren’t customized, but I’ve got so much going on in my room that has been crafted by me, that I can sit back on this one, right?

The storage ottoman, by the way, came from Hobby Lobby (no doubt).  It was originally $39.99, but you know I bought it when it was 50% off.  I bought 6 of them.  I know that was a lot to spend on chairs for my guided math table, but, they look good and they fit my classroom.

I’m investing.  At least that’s what I’m reminding myself as I am getting my room ready.  I won’t have to do another over-haul for at least 5 more years.

OK, link up your fabulous finds below 🙂

  1. Elizabeth, I wanted to make those for my guided reading table, but I just couldn't invest the money. I chose, instead, to just purchase stools from Ikea. I won't have the storage option, but that also means I won't have a place to hide my junk! 🙂 I love those ottomans, though! Have fun at the aquarium. I've never been. I make it to the Coca-Cola factory and can never seem to leave! :)LeslieMiss R's Room

  2. I lived in France for two years as a child. Where in France is your friend from?I agree with you about the seats…plus I don't have a handy-man around to help me with the wood part!LOL~Natalie

  3. I've loved checking those crates out on everyone's blog, too! I saw some like that (different patterns) this week at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20…and they have those 20% off coupons…and you can use several in one purchase. Just an idea for anyone near a BBB:-)Michellemcoop1125@gmail.com

  4. I love these. The color is awesome. I love the crates, but I am worried that I will be blamed if one of the kids happens to fall or slip off one of them.

  5. I agree about the cost of making the crates. For me the blood, tears, and “OOPS” just aren't worth the creation. I must say, those that can create should because the crates I've seen all look adorable!AmyWhere Seconds Count

  6. I like your buy this week! Are they the kind you can store stuff inside? That would be such a great thing to have this year! Definitely keeping that in mind! Thanks for sharing, and hosting this fun linky. I always enjoy it.AmandaReaching for the TOP!

  7. I did the exact same thing you did last year with the ottomans. I went to Walmart, with the intent to purchase the stuff for the crate seats….saw the ottomans, and it was a no brainer. The kids LOVE them, and they serve the same purpose without the craftiness from me ;)~StephanieTeaching in Room 6

  8. Have fun today!! I am totally envious of your purchase! I think it's smart and I am going to have a VERY hard time not doing the same–are there other colors as well (I adore the green, but was hoping for a mix maybe). Thanks my friend!

  9. You are SO right! I made 2 benches using 8 crates this past week and if I could have a 'do over' I would totally buy them! With all the supplies and time involved I would have SAVED money if I bought the ones you did! Oh well, my kiddos are going to love them and I am sure they will last FOREVER…lol. 🙂

  10. Looks like you got the better deal on these crate seats. I already have the milk crates that aren't being used so I plan to revamp them to use this way in my classroom. I just joined up with your fabulous find Friday linky party.

  11. How fun that you hosted a French girl and that your daughter gets to travel to France next summer! My family hosted a French girl when I was in middle school too and later, in college, I lived in France for a summer with 2 different French families and it was LIFE CHANGING! My mom told me to keep studying French in college (when I was tired of it) and I stuck to it and my first five years of teaching were at the Normandale French Immersion School in a suburb of Minneapolis. It was my DREAM job, elementary + French! That experience made me the teacher that I am today…teaching in English though for the past 8 years. Staying with a host family for an extended time is the KEY to learning more French than you would by “studying” it in school. What a fun connection!

  12. Totally agree with you and am beginning to think that maybe Ginger is on to something. I might have to do 1/2 of them crafty…. Hummm

  13. Thanks for sharing your story with me 🙂 I feel that this has been a true blessing and we are so grateful for this opportunity for our daughter.

  14. I LOVE them…think of the time that you saved! The storage will be great and I'm sure once they get a little rough around the edges from being loved by your kiddos that you could pretty them up with some fabric and get a few more years out of them. Definitely worth the investment! SherriBooks, Blocks and Baskets

  15. I've been looking for two of those for my daughter's room. Hobby Lobby, eh? I never thought about using them in my classroom, but they would be fabulous at any of my small group areas. Thanks for sharing!JennyOwl Things First

  16. I love these! I live in Va and I found mine on sale for $16 at Target. It's a simple black one but it's fantastic in place of a rocking chair and doesn't take up that much space.Sliding into Second Gradeslidinginto2ndgrade.blogspot.com

  17. For those worrying about the wood part of the project, you can get the milk crates from your school's cafeteria (all the milk company does is grab them & most times throw them away – at least ours does). I'm sure they could spare a few, ours did. Also, if you go to Lowes, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, etc, you can get the lawn furniture cushions to tie onto the top of the milk crate – and you have a cushion, minus the wood & need for a handyman. Worked for ours!!!
