Music in Math
Over the last few years, I’ve been incorporating music during my math class. Just this week, we started our measurement unit and I was reminded of why I continue to use music to teach math.
And in my room, some days…it is 🙂

I can not even begin to tell you how extremely happy I am to be writing this post! Last summer, Maria Dismondy contacted me to see if I could help her out. Um, of course! I’ve loved her books and have used them in my classroom for the last few years. She asked for me…
Happy Valentine’s Day {Week}! This is going to be a big week! It is my last full week with my students before I stop to start administering the ACCESS test (the test for all ELL students to test their language proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking). It will take me about 5 weeks to…
Happy August! I finished, I finished, I finished 🙂 Many of you know that I’ve been working all summer long… Just in time for summer to be over. Well, I have a week left to sit back and enjoy myself. Who am I kidding? I’ll be in my classroom decorating/creating/doing something running my mouth with all…
So this is how my morning started. No alarm. Do I really need to say more? Not really. But I will….’cause it’s that CrAzY! So, my husband wakes me up at 7:00. I normally LEAVE THE HOUSE at 7:00! What? Jump up in a tizzy. I had not set my alarm. I got a full…

I use music during writing time and independent work….it's nice, and it especially lessens the talking when they work.
Such a fun way to get math in! My kiddos like the “Volume Song” from Have Fun Teaching. Always makes them smile :)StephTeaching in Room 6

Sorry…didn't read the last comment before posting! I LOVE singing songs with my kiddos! Especially when it helps them remember content! We sing a ton of science and SS songs! Love having another math song to add to the mix!RachelA Tall Drink of Water
ooo I like that one a lot!! We use the karaoke from Study Jams for science and math sometimes. I love to play quiet music during Writer's Workshop (not the same thing as what you're saying, but you know what I mean!). We use Pandora and my students' favorite station is the movie scores 🙂 I hope you're off to a nice weekend my friend!
