  6. I have never really received any from my students or their families. I teach inner city and they are just struggling to get by to tell you the truth, but I have had many students and their parents return and thank me for all I have done for their children and that means more to me than any gift! = )

  7. I have a school house that I can use and a candy dish that I got from a student when I taught in Louisiana. He was in my school due to Hurricane Katrina and that his dad was in the Army. I taught at Ft. Polk at the time. Sure miss him!

  10. My favorite gift has to be a card I got from a family (I had all 3 of their kiddos over the years) telling me what an impact I had on their children and how much their family loved and appreciated me. I still have the card!!

  11. The year I graduated with my masters degree, my room mom took a picture of me in my robe and all my students. Then she had students sign the matting. She had it professionalyl framed. I just loved the thoughtfulness of making my graduation special to me and showing my students the importance of higher education.

  12. My first year teaching I received a picture collage of my students holding up chalkboards of things they liked about 4th grade! It was the best!

  13. It was a year after I had had the student in third grade. She brought me a house that she had made out of clay and glazed. It still sits on my desk and I think of that quirky kid every time I look at it.

  14. What a generous give-away! I once received a handwritten note from a middle school student that I had worked with since 2nd grade. It was a birthday wish and a thank you. Awesome to be remembered!

  16. My greatest gift happened today. A former 3rd grader, who is now in 5th grade, shared a Google Doc with me entitled “How Much I Appreciate You”. She detailed in the letter how thankful she is that I was her teacher. It brought tears to my eyes because this is the time of year when I think about whether or not I made the right decision on a profession. Now I know.

  17. Sadly as a high school teacher I don't get many appreciation gifts, but I would say the can coozies from the school several years ago were fun 🙂
